"That stage is a flagship for what
have become worldwide movements.
When you step upon it, let your imagination
fly you to the far corners of our cosmos."

The historic Moreno Stage built in 1936

Nestled at the gateway to the Hudson Valley, Boughton Place is a non-profit center dedicated to providing education, community and a platform for the arts. It has become an international training center for psychodramatists from around the world and a venue for performances, artists, workshops, and more.

Boughton Place is a ten minute drive from both the NYS Thruway and the Mid-Hudson Bridge in Highland. Near the Hudson Valley's newest tourist attraction, the Walkway Over the Hudson, we are within walking distance from the Hudson Valley Rail Trail, whose proposed expansion will run right by us! Proximate to all Ulster County tourist destinations, we are easily reached by Metro-North and Adirondack Trailways.

Home to the renowned Moreno stage, the Boughton Place property hosts two main buildings on four acres. We have many workshop and classroom spaces, kitchens, a large screened porch, and landscaped grounds which can be used for events, workshops, and hospitality. The Moreno stage, recognized as a vital symbol of the worldwide psychodrama community, also serves as a great venue for performance arts; theater music, dance, poetry recitals, and more. Our theater, which can accommodate an audience of 65, lends itself to intimate performances and has wonderful acoustics.

A distinguishing feature of Boughton Place is its ability to host overnight accommodations. Our two main buildings offer lodging for up to 18 people, making us a unique venue for not only Ulster County and Hudson Valley arts and multidisciplinary programs, but for those from the greater NY Metropolitan area and elsewhere. This residential component deeply enhances programs that want to provide multi-day and evening immersion experiences for participants.

Located in the beautiful Hudson Valley Catskill region, Boughton Place is an ideal location for hosting the following events:

Community Playback Theatre performs on the first Friday of each month.
  • psychodrama
  • theater performance
  • poetry, spoken word
  • music, dance
  • professional training workshops
  • personal growth workshops
  • creative arts therapy workshops
  • yoga classes, meditation
  • rehearsal space
  • celebrations
  • and much more
