While the lights are temporarily dimmed on the moreno stage, we have created this virtual stage page--a place to share good news in the wake of the covid-19 epidemic. We invite all of our constituents and friends to share stories, photos, videos, recipes, funny links, pearls of wisdom, etc. We could all use some uplifting. We will share as many we can. Send to boughtonplace@gmail.com.
5/12/20: Boughton Place Board Member/Hudson Valley Psychodrama Institute Director/Community Playback Theatre member Judy Swallow shared this with us. Her CPT colleague Betty MacDonald recounts her story about 30 minutes in, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dfU1yn0rDwE&feature=youtu.be
5/4/20: From Dzieci Theatre: One of the guiding principles in Dzieci’s work is to accept the conditions. At this extraordinary time, we find that we have no choice but to accept. But how to meet these conditions and yet still find a way to create? That is the question. Our efforts are to continue to work together, and to proceed “as if”. Here, despite isolation, we present our “As If” exercise, refining the company’s practice of spontaneity and presence. But first we learn a piece of text through oral transmission. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y0tFxldupZI&feature=youtu.be
Our collective story remains doing our best in whatever way we can, and staying put. Maybe you've noticed that despite our physical distance and many challenges, we can still find instances where creativity is blossoming.... A propos of that, here is a poem offered by our own Betty MacDonald:
Last Day of Winter Against the luminous grey sky stark bare branches form an imperfect net through which birds fly freely.
Soon tiny buds will appear. In another week bright green leaves will unfurl against the sky.
We can depend on it in this time of not knowing. In this time when we don't know what to expect.
While we weren't together physically for our Sunday matinee .... there are still plenty of venues for telling your stories. See where they crop up in your life! Tell us about it on our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/communityplaybacktheatre ), or share with family and friends. Remember how it feels to co-create a show? "Let's Watch!" Stay well and safe! Love from us all, Community Playback Theatre
